The fishwife cowl

This is my first crochet pattern.

I´ve crocheting from 2006 and I´ve never tried to make my own pattern before.

This pattern is pretty simple you need to know how to half double crochet in the 3rd loop and the herring bone stitch

The fishwife cowl

Materials:
Yarn:

or any light worsted yarn

Crochet hook nr. 5/H

Needle to weave in the ends

Herringbone stitch:  Yarn over and put the hook in the stitch, yarn over and pull through both the stitch and first loop on the hook.  Yarn over and pull through the remaining loops

Hdc in 3rd loop:  Yarn over and put the hook in the 3 loop of the next stitch, yarn over and pull through all the loops.
A typical hdc (half double crochet) has three loops, two in the front and one in the back, the one in the back is called the 3rd loop

The pattern:

Chain 30

Row 1:  Make a hdc in the 3rd stitch from the hook and hdc in each stitch across the row.

Row 2:  Chain 3.  hdc in the 3rd loop and continue for the next 4 stitches.  Next you make herringbone stitch in the next 20 stitches and hdc in the 3rd loop for the last 5 stitches.

Row 3-50:  Repeat row 2.

Finishing:
Stitch the two short sides together.  I slipstitched the sides together.

Weave in the ends
